South African Institute of Cranial Studies

 

 

The Diploma is the gateway to running a successful CranioSacral  practice and to continuous educational and teaching opportunities in S. Africa and abroad. The syllabus is in line with international trainings. It develops competencies in neuro-anatomy and physiology,  practitioner values and ethics, and in the hands-on practice of CST.  Graduates of this diploma are recognized in the UK and Australia.

 

Admission Requirements

 

 

·                         Attendance of an introductory weekend workshop

·                         Attendance of CranioSacral approach to anatomy and physiology

·                         Prior training in some form of bodywork is useful but not a pre – requisite.

·                         Time and space -

·         Sufficient available time for homestudy

·         Support and containment to allow for self work

·         Clear intent for completion of the full professional training

·         Module attendance - 300 hrs (at least 80 % )

·                         Financial commitment: R 800 / day

The training is designed to be an intensive, empowering and healing experience; a challenging learning opportunity. Training groups are kept reasonably small, ideally between 12 and 20 participants.

Assessment

 

Continuous Assessment

Craniosacral practice and skills development will be continually assessed by observation and by mini-sessions with tutors, building up to full sessions in practical exams.

 

Home study

Assignments fall into four categories: anatomy, physiology and pathology questions and drawings, writing self-assessments, course assessments, and case study development.

 

Exams

A 90 minute written exam and practical evaluative sessions with tutors in Part 7.  Based on these results, students may be asked to arrange for revision, extra tutorials and/or re-sits before continuing on to module II.

 

The final examinations consist of a 90 minute written, 10 minute oral, and 30-60 minute practical exam with tutors, and is subject to external examination. 

 

Students may sit these examinations only if all previous Parts and home study assignments are complete. 

 

Diploma

 

A Diploma in CranialSacral Therapy will be awarded to all student-practitioners who have passed each of these exams and completed their Supervisory Period. This diploma will entitle the graduate to join the CranioSacral Therapy Association of South Africa as a full member.
